🇸🇪 From the 1890s onwards, there were flag celebrations on 6 June at the open-air museum of Skansen in Stockholm. These were initiated by Artur Hazelius, founder of the museum.

🇸🇪 It took until 1983 for 6 June to officially become the National Day of Sweden. And it was only in 2005 that our National Day was made a public holiday.

Today is the National Day of Sweden! 🎉🇸🇪 We all celebrate this public holiday in different ways, but one thing is sure: blue and yellow flags will be waving from flagpoles all over the country.
